A passion project of fat, smoke, patience, meat and spices from Okra Hong Kong that reflect on our travels and experiences all over this region and beyond.
From Okra Hong Kong, the highly-anticipated Hong Kong outpost of Beijing’s critically-acclaimed sushi & cocktail bar Okra 1949, is officially open. Tucked away on the discerning end of Sai Ying Pun, Okra Hong Kong features the multi-award-winning cuisine and sakes by chef Max Levy (Time Out Beijing’s Chef of the Year 2009-2011) in an informal and relaxed setting.
With 12 bar seats and 6 standing tables in the traditional “tachinomi” style, all facing a modern open kitchen amidst warm but polished Sean Dix-designed interiors, diners can casually enjoy quality sake along with dishes that are prepared with traditional Japanese techniques and tempered with contemporary research. With a unique artisanal approach, Max meticulously sources his ingredients from the region while staying culturally sensitive.
